Does cashmere shrink/tighten up slightly when you wash it in cold water?

I have bought a medium cashmere tunic in a very fine knit but it is a little too big. If I wash it using a cashmere washing agent in cold water will the wool tighten?

If I cannot shrink it very slightly I will have to send it back!Does cashmere shrink/tighten up slightly when you wash it in cold water?
It should not shrink as far as I know. Because we sell cashmere scarves and have not till not listened from any of our customers that it shrinks. Also we ourselves have tested, 100% cashmere doesn't shrink. But I have come across sweaters in market which shrinks. But then most of cashmere in market is not really 100% cashmere as for sweaters , people do mix other fibres with cashmere.

My suggestion to you will be send it back if it doesn't fit.Does cashmere shrink/tighten up slightly when you wash it in cold water?
If the label says to dry clean only--then please do so. Take care.
It probably will.

  • I got a Japanese Straight Perm, am I allowed to wash with just water?

I got a Japanese Straight Perm on Saturday. I naturally have curly hair for some additional details. They told me not to wash until Monday night. I really don't want to go to school without washing my hair for so long. Am I allowed to at least rinse my hair with water? Cold or hot? Or would it ruin my perm?

My friend tried it and it was fine but she already has pretty straight hair but mine is curly so I need your help!I got a Japanese Straight Perm, am I allowed to wash with just water?
Ok so my friend Jessie did the same thing and she wet it and it got ruined and her hair is super curly so don't do it! You'll have to get it redone and then wait another 2 or 3 days and that would suck. Trust me you should just do as they tell you and then follow the instructions.I got a Japanese Straight Perm, am I allowed to wash with just water?
no DO NOT WASH YOUR HAIR!!!!

ok my friend got this done and it got messed up because she washed it after 2 days, and it got messed up!

wait until tues. wear your hair in braids or a ponytail today and tomorrow if it looks greasy
Wow the reason the dont want you to wash your hair so often is because when you do that your hair gets damaged and can start falling out. Dont worry its not like your hair well smell. (my hair is permed)
dont wash it yet. it hasnt even been a day really. wait or youll just have wasted several hundred dollars.
    don't wash it !

if you're worried about the smell

just spray some perfume or something.

    hope that helps(:
why would u wanna risk it?

Is it ok to wash dishes in cold water?

or is hot better? Is it ok to wash dishes in cold water?
Funny you should ask this question! Because last week on TV someone else asked the same thing.

    The answer was:

Detergent breaks down the grease, fat and oils but doesn't kill germs. In order to kill germs the water temperature has to be 80 degrees Celsiuses.

The best place to wash your dishes is in a dishwasher or if you wash your dishes by hand pour boiling water over them at the end and let them air dry.

They said if you use a tea towel to dry your dishes the moist tea towel will put germs back on the dishes.

I think it's amazing, I'm still alive after all these years because I wipe my dishes dry with a tea towel and rinse the dishes in only warm water. lolIs it ok to wash dishes in cold water?
Hot, soapy water is better. It allows food residue to ';melt'; off, perhaps dissolve would have been a better word.

It also sanitizes any surfaces you may have used in preparing meat - cutting boards, etc.
Hot is always better as the purpose of washing dishes is to not only clean them but to kill any bacteria left on the plate. If you are in a pinch and only cold water is available, use an anti-bacterial detergent and rinse clean. As soon as you can, get them into some nice hot water. You don't want to take chances getting sick.
    Hot is better.
Hot is better because it kills the germs and makes the soap work more effectievly.
you can not get the water hot enough to kill pathogens without burning your skin. modern detergents, like dawn will clean and kill bacteria in cold water just fine!

How often do you wash kitten in lukewarm water?

How often do you trim the kittens nails?

What diseases or serious illness can indoor kitten get?How often do you wash kitten in lukewarm water?
You should only bathe a cat if it is with a shampoo for fleas or if it rolled around in manure or something of that sort.

Bathing a cat drys out their skin and can cause them to scratch themselves bald or raw. They groom themselves many times a day so please, never wash your cat.

You shouldn't trim her nails until she is getting them stuck in the carpet. furniture or drapes. Do it when she is sleepy or relaxed so she's less likely to squirm. Only trim off a small amount, and always be sure to watch for the ';quick.'; The quick is the vein that runs through the nail and if you cut into it, it is very painful for the kitty and she could bleed.

UTIs (urinary tract infections) are common in house cats who are on a diet high in magnesium. Grocery store or department store food is the number one cause of UTIs. It is not pH balanced and it causes little crystals of urine to build up, and when they try to urinate these crystals make it very painful for them so they end up holding in their urine. You'll want to get your kitten to the vet immediately if she is not peeing regularly, if she is meowing constantly for no apparent reason especially in the litter box, or if she is lethargic and out of energy and not eating or drinking as much.

To avoid this painful infection, start her off on a high quality food from your local health pet food store. Chicken Soup for the Cat Lovers Soul is a good brand that is nutritionally solid, and reasonably priced.

Good luck with your new furbaby! How often do you wash kitten in lukewarm water?
It is not correct that indoors cats trim their own nails on scratching posts. What they are doing on the posts is to rid themselves of old dead coverings of nails as they grow. If you keep your cat inside you do need to trim the points off their nails once a month or so. If you do this when the cat is relaxed it can become part of your normal routine. Let the cat tell you when he/she has had enough of messing with their feet. I often can do just one foot at a sitting. Usually I just to front feet but check the back toes too. I had one cat who's back claw was too long and it got caught on the carpet. The cat pulled against it and dislocated his toe. His toe was upside down. Quick trip to the vet only to learn that gentle massage will allow the toe to pop back to the right position

I do not bath my cats as long as they are healthy and indoor cats. If they go outside they are likely to get into something that might smell bad or be dangerous to the cat if he grooms himself clean. Then it is bath time. Cats do not like bath time - huge understatement.
cats stay clean inside clean homes; they get dirty and develop sores, hotspots, eye discharges in dirty home.

cats trim their own nails. on furniture, carpet, whatever is around, that's why they sell poles with carpet wrapped around them.

an indoor cat can pick up whatever filth you bring into the home.

if you have a clean home, the self cleaning cats do for themselves, by licking and grooming their fur, is more than sufficient..

my cats always smell like toy stuffed animals in the morning and evening..just like the fake fur on a new toy teddy bear.

Can I pour bleach in my dish water to wash them?

Isn't this dangerous? Do people really put bleach in their dish water? Can I pour bleach in my dish water to wash them?
Yes. Just a cap full though. Thats all you need. Can I pour bleach in my dish water to wash them?
Laundry - yes... but, apart from sterilizing, what would you want to bleach (whiten) in dish water??? It isn't dangerous, btw.... won't smell great!
no i do it all the time
I worked at a group home and we would but bleach in the dishwasher. One of the clients had hepatitis and we didn't want anything to happen to the other clients. Nothing happened to the dishes and no side effects on the clients, either. So my experience it was safe.
yes its fine same with me my mum used it growing up it made the dishes sparkle and very clean just make sure you really rinse it off...also good ol lemon cleans dishes and leaves it smelling fresh
I have did this before. Works great!
yes, but not a lot of bleach. my mom always did this growing up, and it never harmed us, just be sure to rinse!
People bleach there cups to cover the stains....but c'mon Dish-water detergent ain't that pricey!...buy some
You can. Some do. Why would you want to? What is wrong with the regular soaps? There are some with bleach alternatives added.
If you want to freshen the smell in there, use Vinegar, Never Bleach. Bleach is a strong oxidizer + can harm seals + parts.
    Sounds great.
It's toxic to plants, animals, and people. Would you drink it? No, well you don't want it on your dishes either, not even a tiny bit!!
yes,you can. I do it all the time with my dishes and it assures me that they are clean!
I use the dish soap that has bleach actually in it...look for that. Ultra Concentrated Dawn with bleach

    ';Rinse in dilute bleach solution (50-100 parts per million chlorine; about 2ml of 5% bleach per litre of water, approximately one capful bleach per gallon water). ';

    from http://www.answers.com/topic/dishwashing

Sounds like for each gallon of water you use, put a capful of bleach.

    Rinse good!!
Bleach in the dish water is fine. It is a disinfectant.
Actually, wash them normally, then when rinsing, put a capful of bleach in the rinsewater. Restaraunts, hospitals, nursing homes, everyone does it.
Yes, it doesn't take much. It kills germs and works with the soap. What do you think they use at fast food restaurants? They use a type of disinfectant/ sanitizer that works the way bleach does.
Personally, i would not do it and have not heard of anyone doing this... There are some points you should think about......

Bleach has a very strong smell, which can make you dizzy and disoriented. I know this personally as i use to clean my aquairum decorations with bleach to kill algae when i was storing the decorations (changing for the season). I would get really dizzy and nautious. LIkewise may be true for you.

Another thing to think about is that bleach is not safe to drink, if you use them to wash the dishes PLEASE rinse them really really really well! It can be fatal!

If it were me, stick to the dish soap you can buy in the stores... I've always been partial to Dawn. There are many dish soaps which are really good at cutting grease and getting my dishes looking good as new.
    HUH?? BLEACH? Use soap.

Will it damage a wool jacket to wash it in cold water on the gentle cycle and let it air dry?

It's only 48 percent wool and the rest is a nylon polyester blend. Will it damage a wool jacket to wash it in cold water on the gentle cycle and let it air dry?
If you can read the label, see what it says. If it says dry clean only, do that. Why do you want to clean it? Does it smell or is it dirty? That will help decide what to do. If is just smells, try hanging outside for a couple of hours. If it is visibly dirty, you can wash it in cold water on gentle and let air dry, not in the dryer, but it may shrink a bit. Dry cleaning will get it clean but won't do much for smell. With the blend, I personally would try washing it myself unless the tag told me not to. Sometimes it's because of the dyes they use they say to dry clean only. If it zips, washing may make the zipper bulge and not work properly. Wash at your own risk if it says dry clean only.

Hope this helps you make a decision. Will it damage a wool jacket to wash it in cold water on the gentle cycle and let it air dry?
As you said. Its a mixture of polyester and wool.As The wool content is less, you can wash in cold water but without spin dry.If it's 100%wool you can't wash in water.
If you use a detergent specifically for use with that blend of fabrics(like woolite) there will not be a problem , just don't put it in a dryer or it will shrink! Air drying is the best for it if it's laid out on a drying rack made for that purpose.
    It may shrink a little.

Why must you use both soap and water to wash oil from your hands?

plz help me i hate chem. Why must you use both soap and water to wash oil from your hands?
That's because water and oil do not mix because water is hydrophillic and oil is hydrophobic. Soaps contains both hydrophillic and hydrophobic molecules.

So when your wash your hands without soap, the oil and water do not mix and the oil is not washed away.

So when you wash your hands with soap the soap sticks to the water and the oil sticks to the soap.

  • Is it a good idea to wash face with warm water first then cold water?

Whenever I'm in the shower I tend to use only cold water to wash my face since warmer water feels weird. But I heard that using warm water first and then rinsing with cold water is better. Is this true.Is it a good idea to wash face with warm water first then cold water?
How To Wash Face : Put a wash cloth in Hot water and let that cloth sit on your face for a wile to loosen poors , than splash your face with hot water . use whatever to use to cleanse your face or whatever , make sure its foamy be for you wash it off , and rinse that off with warm to hot water , once all the face stuff is off splash your face with freezing cold water to tighten your poors . than you pat your face dry .

if your face feels like a elastic and/or shiny . get a tiny bit of lotion ( or face lotion stuff i don't know if you understand girlie stuff )and just rub that tiny bit all over .Is it a good idea to wash face with warm water first then cold water?
Yes.Warm water helps to rid your skin of old oils and softens the skin by opening the pores so the water can wash them out too.Cold water then tightens the skin.I haven't used soap on my face for 20 years unless it's filthy.I use warm water and a soft brush like nature intended.
well not sure but warm water opens pores releasing dirt then rinsing with cold closes pores well that's the so called theory.seems good idea .not expert just my opinion of wat have heard my complexion is good so presume its working
sometimes, because this can cause temperature difficulties in your blood so dont use HOT water then COLD water because it might be unsafe for your blood
warm water will open the pores of your skin and remove more dirt i imagine, then cold water to rinse your face after. Makes sense

Can you get mouse shampoo from the shop and wash them with water?

i have two pet mice and i really want to know if you can wash them with special mouse shampoo or will the water make them sick? Can you get mouse shampoo from the shop and wash them with water?
I've only ever seen Rat shampoo.. I wouldn't suggest using it, it might not be a good idea and there could be things in it that could harm your mice.

If I don't have rat shampoo, I usually just wash my rats in warm water.. and sometimes cold (I have 2 and they like both hot %26amp; cold) I may not be a lot of help because I have rats, but usually Mice %26amp; Rats are clean animals and should be okay.. You should only wash them unless there fur is sticky or they have lice. But I personally, like to clean my rats once a month just in case they have missed some places and are still a little dirty, cleaning mice might be a little harder.. seeing as they are much smaller and/or tinier you have the risk of getting water or whatever you us to bath them, in their ears, eyes or mouth.. This could lead to extreme pain for them and/or infection.

But if you really are worried about them being dirty or want to get some water on them, try setting up a flat tray of water with things like pebbles, shells and treats.. Let them go in themselves! That's another way :) But you need to know you cant force them into water.. it could permanently damage them, they could have a fear or have a panic attack.

Hope that helps! :)Can you get mouse shampoo from the shop and wash them with water?
You don't need to wash mice. They wash themselves, rats on the other hand, could use a bath once in awhile, although if you keep there cages clean they will stay clean and smelling good.

If you deside to wash your mouse, you want to make sure it is a none sented, they do have sensitive skin, and watch out for their eyes.
There might be special shampoo for them. I use nice warm water and shampoo on my RATs and make sure that when the shampoo is rinsed off of them, that there is a warm towel fresh out of the dryer to dry them completly 100% off. so their body temp doesnt drop.

Google ';mouse care'; or ';is it ok to bathe a mouse';. I know some small animals temperatures will drop in a bath, and they can die of hypothermia...like hampsters.
We have a special rodent shampoo we bought from the pet store, you only need a blob the size of a 5 cent piece then just lather it in and then wash it all out. Make sure to thoroughly dry them at the end as they are more susceptible to colds and chills.
There are two kinds of rodents' shampoos, a powder and a actual shampoo

you use with water. You can only wash them about once a month and make

sure that the water is luke warm.
It is not needed, mice clean themselves same with rats and hamsters they don't need baths, and yes it could give them a cold and they could die,

    Good luck

What Happens If You Shave You Legs Just With Water? No Body Wash Or Shaving Cream?

I was just thinking that it would be so much easier to shave your legs in just water rather then using body wash or shaving cream. You could do it anytime, and it wouldn't take that long. I just wanted to know why you have to use body wash/shaving cream when you shave your legs. What Happens If You Shave You Legs Just With Water? No Body Wash Or Shaving Cream?
it will go very rashy and ichy dont try it

belive me i knoow from experieceWhat Happens If You Shave You Legs Just With Water? No Body Wash Or Shaving Cream?
I've done it before and it works but it actually takes a little longer cause your skin isn't as smooth and you have to be careful not to cut yourself, and the knees are even harder in my opinion. Also I sometimes miss spots because the shaving cream on my leg shows me where I haven't shaved but without the shaving cream it's harder to tell. You can do it though, it seems to be fine. Also shampoo works nicely.
You dont have to use any cream i just shave my legs with ordinary water and they are perfectly fine. Some people prefer to use cream though. If its your first time shaving then it might be worth using cream so that you get every bit of your legs because you might miss some spots.

    x
    Hi there.

Everyone's saying that it'll give you blisters or a rash or something, but I hardly ever use shaving cream/body wash when shaving my legs! Just my personal opinion. Try it without and see how it goes :)

    Hope I helped you out.
If you use water alone, you are more likely to cut yourself. You need soap, cream, body wash, etc, to moisturize and make the razor flow easily on the skin without cutting it. Making sense?
the soap/shaving creme is like a lubrication. hence, you'll have a harder time shaving with water alone. and whatever you do don't shave dry legs, you will end up with a razor burn.
is u just use water it will probably cut your lag and it will fell itchy afterwards.........at least for me it did....

conditioner works a lot better than shaving cream, and conditioner is cheaper......
I believe the cream or body wash is supposed to be a buffer so that you don't get cut. I've shaved my legs with just water before... and I never did it again lol. Trust me, use a buffer.
You can cut your skin. If you shave without anything, your legs won't be nearly as soft. If you accidentally press to hard, you can get a really bad cut.
Uhm, mostly it depends on what kind of razor you have.

Why be lazy and skip a step and end up with ugly scars?

You'd smell nicer with body wash anyways:)
It will kind of be painful, put soap on your legs, that won't hurt.
You will get razor bumps and they are red bumps that are really gross and they hurt
You will get razor burn, it will hurt like a bastard and look terrible.
you wont get a close shave and it may hurt
nothing different,, doesnt hurt, doesnt give you bumps, nothin.. :)
    u could get rashes

Does anyone use only water to wash their face?

I recently met a woman with the most beautiful skin I have ever seen. I asked her what products she used and she replied nothing. She just washes her face with water (just like you would with cleanser--just no cleanser!). I've been asking people ever since and I have only found two other people who use that method--one has very nice skin and actually says she used to have acne but it cleared up when she started using water only, the other has pretty congested looking skin.

Has anyone out there actually done this? Has anyone who has/used to have congested skin try it? Did it work? Is there a bad transition period while your skin adjusts its oil production? How long did it take to adjust?Does anyone use only water to wash their face?
Yes of course, i had a very bad experience with fake cleanser , my face was covered with rashes, i was advice to use only water to wash my face to get back to normal, after using only water for two weeks, my face became more beautiful, fresh, in fact i could not believe myself.Does anyone use only water to wash their face?
Its all about genes. IF she has nice skin, its probably genetic. Most people can get away with using NOTHING and not getting pimples. I personally wash my face 2 times a day and dont get pimples, but if I go a few days without washing my face... I start to get oily skin. I wouldnt stop doing what you are doing now, especially if you are prone to acne. Good luck
    I only use water.

Some people just have a gene that makes you have poor skin protection agaisnt zits, etc.

But ever once in a while I do use some other stuff.
That sounds good stuff that does. I dont think i could live without my cleanser though. I dont have terrible skin but yes, im always looking for new things to make it better. Hopefully it will in time.

If you try the water thing, good luck, if it works i hope you can e-mail me and i will most definitly try it x
I have VERY oily skin and found that warm water on a washcloth worked as well as any of the special products for oily skin...
Sweets everyone has their own skin regiment and if someone eats apples they get great skin and someone else gets pimples coz I know someone who drinks juices and she gets bad skin and we all know jucies makes skin glow. Same with wine, it can make skin rosy but can also cause allergies to others.

I for example use dove wash and then dry it and then use creams for the extra pampering effect spending 800$ dollars a month alone on my skin and body. But I do have a good skin touch wood and thanks to God, but some friends just have it all badly.

    Till today my answer is

exercise and sweating to detox and have ravishing clean clear skin

    drinking lots of water

    juices

Intake of fruits veggies and proteins

    Happiness and laughter

    Stress free

and few other choices like good diet etc
it's in her genes that's why she has good skin even though she said she USED TO HAVE acne that means at a certain age it would naturally disappear.

water won't remove the dirt from pollution...so you need soap to remove dirt and oil.
You may read through all these answers and make a decision based on others' experiences, but your skin may react totally differently than these people! Some cleansers may cause irritation due to harsher ingredients, if you have sensitive skin. Others do an amazing job. Try some different methods, and choose for yourself.

About the whole water only thing, I think people who can use only water have great skin to begin with.

Just water cannot cure skin problems. Leading a healthier lifestyle will make it easier to clear up skin.
We in India wash our face with water and soapnut and our women use raw turmeric paste for generations. Only recently the girls are using all artificial things and spoil their face and waste money.
no only using water would be rinsing or splashing your face no washing it! lol
i also only use water and once in a while a herbal cleanser. reason for this is because i have very sensitive skin. I worked fronline for a skincare company for 6 yrs and i have great skin and get complimented on my skin all the time. Because my skin is in such good condition everbody thinks i must use really expensive products but all i do is wash with water and apply a herbal moisturiser!
I used to use cleansers and I had breakouts and acne. But now for the most part I just use water. Every once in a while I will use an all natural cleanser with apricot and bits of peach pit to help exfoliate(found at a health store). Cleansers generally dry out the skin. Even moisturizing kinds can be that way. By using just water your skin can producuce the oils to keep you skin the way it should be. Cleansers will strip the skin of these oils and could actually cause breakouts instead of helping them.

Is it true that if you put your mouth guard in listerine mouth wash and warm water it will kill the germs?

I have done this for 2 months and was wondering how else to clean my mouth guards. Is it true that if you put your mouth guard in listerine mouth wash and warm water it will kill the germs?
I don't have a mouth guard, but I have something similar that I wear to bed at night. I just brush it with toothpaste when I brush my teeth. I also have tablets that are made to clean retainers and stuff. You just add it to water and it fizzs up. I do that once a week or so.Is it true that if you put your mouth guard in listerine mouth wash and warm water it will kill the germs?
I suspect it will work fine. Don't know how the alcohol will eventually affect the plastic, though. You could also soak them in a 10% solution of bleach and water and rinse them well.
    It IS true.

My boyfriend wears a mouthguard every night. Before putting it in his mouth, he gives it a nice ';bath'; in warm water and listerine for about ten minutes.

He still does the brushing in the morning, though.

    Can water wash away fingerprints?

Like if a murderer wanted to cover up all his fingerprints, can he soak and/or wash everything that possibly has his fingerprints? If not, what is out there that could make a fingerprint disappear? And I know that forensic teams %26amp; FBI have way more ways and technology to prove someone guilty without the evidence of any fingerprints, but I'm just asking this specific question. Can water wash away fingerprints?
no because they stick to the meterial untill washed off with something strong like bleachCan water wash away fingerprints?
i wouldn't think so get a mirror put you hand print on it then run under water and see if it is gone it will be there. wearing gloves and wiping down is all i know from watching tv.

So now that we know what fingerprints are, how do people leave them behind at a crime scene? Since your fingers are covered in skin, they are also covered in skin pores. Skin pores produce oils and sweat, which are distributed on your fingers. When you touch something, those liquids are left on the surface, in the shape of your fingerprints (just like a rubber stamp with ink on it). It's those compounds that can be detected by forensic technicians, using a number of methods. The oily compounds left behind are often detected by good old fingerprint powder, just as you see on any TV detective movie. Like everything however, science has advanced fingerprint powders quite a lot since the early days. Modern fingerprint powders contain various compounds that did not even exist when fingerprint powders were invented (making them far more sensitive), and are usually applied using special soft fiberglass brushes, which do less damage to the fingerprints. When a fingerprint has not yet been detected, it's known as a ';latent print'; (latent for short). Modern science has found many other ways to detect latents, however. When you touch an object, the chemicals in your sweat may be absorbed into that object (paper is a good example of this), and there are now chemicals which can develop these latents quite nicely. Even paper, which has been soaking wet, can now be successfully examined for fingerprints, using advanced chemicals. The Laser has been a great boon to law enforcement officials as well, due to its ability to detect certain fingerprints. Some types of Lasers cause chemicals in some fingerprints to ';fluoresce'; or glow, which allows them to be photographed as evidence. There are also dyes that can be sprayed on pieces of evidence to help fingerprints to be more visible to the Laser. The Laser has been extremely useful in obtaining fingerprints from human bodies, a feat that was nearly impossible only a few years ago. Many surfaces, which were difficult to obtain useable fingerprint from in the past, are now routinely examined successfully due to all of these scientific advances

  • Can you get mouse shampoo from the shop and wash them with water?

i have two pet mice and i really want to know if you can wash them with special mouse shampoo or will the water make them sick? Can you get mouse shampoo from the shop and wash them with water?
Mice really don't need you to bathe them, as they are very good about keeping themselves clean. If they become soiled by some odd mishap, gently clean them with an unscented baby wipe.

There is no soap or shampoo specifically made for mice that I know of %26amp; giving them a bath could be dangerous. Can you get mouse shampoo from the shop and wash them with water?
Mice clean themselves. If you were to wash them, they would get too cold after being wet and most likely die because their bodies can't handle cold very well.

Can you wash clothes in hot water without soap?

My infant is really sensitive to any type of detergent. (Even the free and clear ones) If her clothes have no stains and are not that dirty would washing them in hot water be ok, without the use of detergent? Also, I do know that Cetaphil works great for her as a body and hair cleanser. Has anyone used this on clothes? Or is there anything like it that could be used for laundry? What about plain baking soda? Would that work? If so, how do you use it with a front loader? Can you wash clothes in hot water without soap?
Hot water, if the fabric can handle it is better than nothing. My brother was allergic and the Dr told my mom to use All detergent. I know they also sell baby detergent. Have you tried one of those? Shampoo or baby wash would work better than just hot water but could get costly. Can you wash clothes in hot water without soap?
I am Old. I remember that Castle soap was used for sensitive skin Way Back When. Try going on an I net search for that. Have u tried rinsing in a few drops of vinegar, which neutralizes, then rinsing again ro remove smell. I hope you aren't using fabric softener, that could be the culprit. Just mix a drop or two if vinegar in an oz of water and put it in the softener slot. As for Baking soda, its a great cleaner. U might try that . I think I'd make sure everything is rinsed out thoroughly.

If U are using a Laundry Mat U may have to wash and rinse again with plain water to get it all out. Good luck!
You can wash clothes in hot water w/out using laundry soap, but the clothing will not be clean nor will it smell good. Have you tryed using Ivory Snow, but using a double rinse cycle instead of one? That may help rinse the clothing much better than a single rinse. I'd ask your doctor what laundry soap he would recommend. The Ivory is the gentlest %26amp; maybe a double rinse will not be as irritating. Do not use Cetaphil on her clothing. Do not use baking soda on her clothng either. That doesn't clean %26amp; could really wreak havoc with her skin. Maybe you should consult with a dermatologist. He'd know what you could use safely.
The short answer is YES! You can make your own laundry soap real easy. I make mine all the time. IMHO it cleans better then the store bought stuff, doesn't bother any of my families and way cheaper.

Here is my recipe I make my own soap, but you can use any bar soap. If there is any bar soap that you have used.

    4 lbs of soap

    4 lbs of baking soda

4 lbs of borax (mule 90 stuff you get it in the laundry section)

8 lbs of Salt ( I use regular table salt, no iodine)

Shred the soap, I use a old cheese grater. Then mix the baking soda, borax and salt with the soap. Now your done. You can add essential oils or fragrance oils to add a scent you like.

You only use a 1/2 cup at a time, and use it just like other laundry soaps.

I use baking soda because it is easier for me to get I live in a very rural area. Most recipes call for washing soda. I've used both now and I like the baking soda better.

I have given this recipe to people with front loaders and it has worked just fine. The salt helps it stay low suds.

Also, I have a big family so you can cut the recipe real easy. I made it this way because items came in 4lb sizes, so it was much easier for me.
You could try baking soda %26amp; vinegar.

Why does my aunties washing machine fill with water after it has completed a wash?

washer drum is dry on completion but several hours later it refills why?Why does my aunties washing machine fill with water after it has completed a wash?
It sounds like the valve(s) inside the washer are leaking. The spin cycle pumps all the water out like it should, then as it sits, it gradually fills until the water level is high enough to overflow out the drain.

Could be crud from the water or pipes in the valves. There should be screens on the ends of the hoses that connect to the faucets.

Could be the valve failing mechanically, either sticking or the seals failing.

Could be your water pressure is too high, or unregulated, and is forcing its way through the valve.

Could be minerals in the water clogging the valve. If you have mineral water, you will likely know it.

Could be a valve IS completely stuck open, but the faucet(s) are turned way down so water doesn't fill the machine very quickly (possible if someone turned the hot water way down so as to make not-very-warm water for the ';warm'; settings).

If it were an electrical failure, the valve would either stay full on or full off, and you'd notice - it would fill up really fast and you'd hear the water running, or it wouldn't fill at all.

After you/she completes a wash, try turning OFF the hot, OR cold, faucet to the washer. You can find out if it is the hot, cold, or both valves leaking. For that matter, does the washer fill with hot, warm, or cold water? Can you hear it running? Can you see it dripping into the tub?

OR - less likely, and more problematic...

it is possible the drain is connected incorrectly, either siphoning water back into the tub or allowing drain water from somewhere else to run into the washer instead of down the drain. If this were the case, likely you'd be complaining about nasty, foul, sewage sorts of stuff and not just ';water'; filling the machine. Why does my aunties washing machine fill with water after it has completed a wash?
Bad hot or cold water solenoid. Water inlet hose connect to

    them.

I wash my clothes in water of high salt content, this leaves salts on after drying. Removal method?

The water typically has all kinds of salts, hardness included. After drying the salts remain on the fabric, after a few washes the clothes turn yellow (the white ones). Is there a method by which you can remove the salts - use of some light acid or such? Hydrochloric acid will dissolve this water scale, but it will also damage the fabric.. any solutions?I wash my clothes in water of high salt content, this leaves salts on after drying. Removal method?
Use Borax in the wash, this keeps the water hardness from affecting your clothes so much and only use liquid laundry soap, not powdered laundry soap. Powdered Laundry Soap leaves a film on your clothes that can bind those salts to your fabrics. Liquid ';All';Laundry Soap works well. Clorox 2 Liquid All Fabric Non-Chlorine Bleach is good for stains. A good non-toxic way to remove scale from fabrics is to do a wash cycle with white vinegar. Fill the machine with water, add a whole 16 ounce bottle of white vinegar, swish the water around a bit to mix it well in the water, then put in your clothes and wash them on a longer wash cycle. When that's done, then wash them again per instructions above. This should handle it for now, till you get a filtered water system in your house. I highly recommend getting a filtered water system for your house. This handles a multitude of problems and is a lot healther for YOU too. Because this water situation is not good for your skin or scalp when you take a shower or bath.

Give this all a shot. It worked for me in a similar scene.I wash my clothes in water of high salt content, this leaves salts on after drying. Removal method?

Why do people wash dishes in hot water vs. cold water. How hot does the temperature have to be to sanitize?

My brother and I argued about this as i mixed cold water with the hot water as we were washing in the sink. I said it doesn't sanitize unless its boiling which obviously water from a sink is not. Who is right? Why do people wash dishes in hot water vs. cold water. How hot does the temperature have to be to sanitize?
Hot water helps disolve and remove grease. Not only would the water need to be boiling, but for most bacteri, it would need to boil for a certain amount of time as well (20 minutes or longer for most). Soap works much better with warm water, too. Try it one time. Use cold water and then add your dish soap while you are filling the sink. Observe how much it suds up. Now, do the same with warm water. A whole lot more suds with warm water.

So, you are right. Hot/warm water will not kill the germs while you wash your dishes. It does help make it easier to clean 'em. I use hot/cold mix, too. Unless you plan on using some really good gloves while you are washing, stick with warm water that won't burn ya!

Good Luck to You!Why do people wash dishes in hot water vs. cold water. How hot does the temperature have to be to sanitize?
I agree with the others. It's is good to use hot water to kill germs and bacteria in addition to using dishsoap. I use water that is too hot for my hands and I let the dishes soak in it, until the water is cool enough to put my hands in. I also use special gloves for washing dishes. I am allergic to latex, so I buy the non-latex dishwashing gloves, which is more expensive...argh!!!

When I was a teenager I went camping with my friends. We washed our dishes in cold water. ALL of the dishes were greasy afterwards.

We had to re-wash the dishes with hot water. We put water in a big pot and heated it on the Coleman campstove. After the water was hot we poured it in the wash tub container we used for washing the dishes. We re-washed the dishes with the hot water and the dishes came out clean, no more greasy residue!!!

Bottom line, if you don't want greasy dishes, wash in hot water, NEVER use cold.
Water that is hot enough to put your hand in but not leave it for long is the right temperature. Hot water does sanitize better than cold, but not like if it is boiling. If you want to sanitize your dishes, especially if there is someone in the house with the flu, fill one sink with hot water, place about a capful of bleach in the water. Let the dishes rest in the water for a few minutes. Then rinse off with plain water, place in the drainer and let it air dry and do not use a towel to wipe off the dishes.
Hot water does sanitize and it doesn't have to be boiling hot either. It is also easier to dry dishes that have been washed and rinsed in hot water. Try drying a plate that has been rinsed in cold water and you will be drying a lot longer than you would be if it was rinsed in cold.
To sanitize you would have to have the water way hotter than tap has.If you want to sanitize then wash, dip in water with a little bleach and then air dry.I never do this,I just use anti-bacterial soap and rinse in hot water----my dishes are colored and I want to keep them that way.....
Hot water does sanitize, but it doesn't have to be boiling.

Just a little more than hot to the touch.
Hot water will cut grease better, make more suds and the dishes will dry quicker (no towel drying for me) when rinsed with hot water. However, cold water will rinse the soap off quicker. The water would have to be boiling for sanitizing. If you want to also sanitize your dishes put a little bleach into a basin of hot/warm rinse water. Make sure to rinse the dishes thoroughly after setting in the bleach solution.
Hot water is better for cutting grease on dishes and pots/pans. Sanitizing does call for very hot water--the temp that your dishwasher reaches which is the best way to sanitize dishes/silverware.
Hot water makes it easier to get dishes clean. I don't think it's an issue of sanitization, but it makes it easier to get dried on food off of your dishes. It makes the soap more effective too, cold water breaks down soap and bubbles.
Hot water is used to soak the dishes, especially the silverware. To solve the problem of bacteria they have made ANTIBACTERIAL dish washing soap which even in cold water will kill the germs.

However, even with the Antibacterial soaps, I still put my water in as hot as it can get then let it cool down for my hands.

I also have my water heater set for extremely hot water.

Now, as to who is right and who is wrong.. You are correct that the ';water'; does not sanitize unless it is at a certain temperature which is too hot for our hands.

It is the soap that does the job.

';as women rule = men will drool'; teehee

    GOOD LUCK

If I always use cold water in the washing machine, does it matter if I put whites and colors in the same wash?

Also, is color bleeding determined by temperature of water only, or is it affected by type of detergent as well?If I always use cold water in the washing machine, does it matter if I put whites and colors in the same wash?
Some colors bleed just because they are wet. Do not wash whites with any other color for best results. If you do happen to get color bleeding on whites, do not put the item in the dryer, as heat sets the stain. You can put it on a hanger in the bathroom and let it air dry if necessary. Rit makes several

products that will help remove color bleeding problems. If I always use cold water in the washing machine, does it matter if I put whites and colors in the same wash?
Many colored clothes will beed when they are new, even in plain water. But after most clothes have been washed a few times, it's usually okay to mix them, Red can be an exception, though. Red dye can be VERY hard to avoid, so if you aren't sure, soak the item in water to see if the water turns pink.
I never hurt any of my loads to mix the colords with the whites, even in warm water. The only problems come from colors that ';bleed'; or if you intend to use bleach.
If your colored clothes have been washed a lot already then it is probably ok.

If they are new you should not wash them with the whites for several times.

If you put darks, like jeans in with whites, the whites will all have kind of a light grayish tint.

I'm one of those people who likes to try to get as much clothes into one load as I can so I tend to sort them into a lights and whites pile and another pile of jeans and darks. Then there is the towels pile and the very dirty work clothes pile.

Actually the piles are clothes baskets, a different one for each color and everyone is to put their clothes into the right basket. When the basket is full, I wash them. Very easy.
    Hey...

I do it all time. I make sure that if I have new colored clothing I wash it w/o whites for the first time or two, just in case the color runs when the garment is new. And while bleeding colors can possibly be caused by temperature, I think the age of the clothing item is a more probable cause. Best of luck to you.
cold water helps stop clothes from bleeding .

as a rule of thumb you should do colors separately .

do whites in hot water with bleach .
Sort your clothes according to color, fabric, construction, linting, soil level.

  • Does Drinking a lot of water help wash out the nicotine?

from smoking cigs? does water help wash all that bad stuff out so u can forget about the cravings?Does Drinking a lot of water help wash out the nicotine?
Water won't help you at all ( unless you are thirsty).

If you are quitting, your body will try to get rid of all the toxins in your system. Drinking orange juice can help alleviate some of the effects that you feel during that period.

Hope you are considering being a non-smoker. I guarantee you will feel so much healthier.Does Drinking a lot of water help wash out the nicotine?
The nicotine isn't in your digestive system or stomache. It's in your lungs and your blood, so drinking a lot of water isn't going to help much
it does not help, nicotine goes trough your blood stream...and create an addiction..

What happens to dryclean only clothes when you wash them in water?

They either shrink or loose their shape. What happens to dryclean only clothes when you wash them in water?
They will either shrink or alter the quality of the fabric in some way. If you don't want to go to the expense of dry cleaning clothes, there are ways to dry clean clothes in your home dryer.

I have tried a product called Dryel with some of my dry clean only clothes and have been pleased. What happens to dryclean only clothes when you wash them in water?
    The shrink and rip sometimes.
They will be completly destroyed. I washed some dry clean only shirts one time. All that was left were some shreded pieces of fabric in the washer. I was devastated to say the least.
    Color change.

I know for a fact water spots on Dry Clean only garmet will leave a permanent ring.

Just get it Dry Cleaned. It's professional. They should know what they're doing. Depending on what it is, it shouldn't be too expensive.
    shrink!
    They dissolve instantly
They can be damaged, mostly shrink or become uneven.
I'm sure some shrink and others are ruined in other spectacular ways, however, I've sent many through fine...
    they shrink
It depends what they are made of. Once in a while I've seen clothing that can be hmachine washed , but it says, Dryclean only. i think that is just to protect the manufacterer. Most clothing that needs to be dry cleaned will shrink, or lose it's shape or even fall apart.
For most clothes, you can wash them in cold water, gentle cycle and line dry and steam iron them and they are ok.

Try it on something that is already about to bite the dust and see what happens. All fabrics are different and will react differently.

If it is a wool suit, better dry clean it. If it is a silk blouse or dress you can probably get by with hand washing or even machine washing delicate and stream ironing.
    They'd shrink.
Depends on the clothing. I **THINK** that clothing manufacturers are required to label with a care method, and tend to choose the most conservative/';best'; means, which may default to dry cleaning.

I would look at the fabric content labels carefully first; have successfully machine-washed unlined silks and unlined wools in cold water BUT I was prepared for the possibility of ruining the garment. I would NOT wash a blazer, neckties, anything lined, or anything really expensive. A pair of my husband's dress slacks (wool blend) got washed by mistake and the fabric twisted and shrank.

Your call. If you DO decide to risk it, I'd suggest you try handwashing first----cool water, gentle soap, and dry flat---and be prepared for the chance of ruining the garment.
they dont stay in ment condition
Dry clean means dry clean ONLY!
    Dryclean means dryclean,

they gotcha by the short hairs!
depends on the fabric but the results can vary from shrinkage, to going out of shape, if there is permanent press on them you can lose them, and it can also affect the colour........i would recommend you follow the instructions....

Is it ok to use grey water to wash my car?

its water from the washing machine. I use the bulk of it for the garden, but there is always some left.

There is a water restriction in Australia and almost all homes use this water to water their garden.

Thanks! Is it ok to use grey water to wash my car?
As long as you can rinse it with clean water, you should be fine. Here in america, most car washes wash the car with grey water and then do a ';spot-free rinse';, which is just a rinse with clean water.

Wash it with the grey water right before it rains, then let the rain do the final rinse. Then you won't go against the water restriction. Is it ok to use grey water to wash my car?
I would be leery . But if Australia has its own ways and you are healthy , continue on. Report Abuse

If the water is safe for living plants in the garden, than you are in luck! You may wash that dirty ol' car!! It may even get it pretty shiny!
i suppose it is ok if you rinse it with clear water...

What tyoe of water should i wash my puppy in?

Im kind of a new owner and i wanted to know what kind of water i should wash my puppy in. Hot, Cold, Or Warm? What tyoe of water should i wash my puppy in?
Warm in general, but if he or she is really hot, then use cool water and vice versa is he or she is really cold. What tyoe of water should i wash my puppy in?
warm water, You don't want to scald their skin, and You also don't want them to get too cold.

Since your a new owner here are the facts about bathing:

Don't use Hartz or any other flea shampoo. especially Hartz, the chemical they use can be toxic to puppies and kittens if you don't follow the directions. (never use cat shampoo on a dog or dog shampoo on a cat either) Flea shampoos only kill the fleas that are on the dog at the moment they do NOT prevent reinfestation.

Use a moisturizing oatmeal vitamin E type shampoo, preferably something your Vet recommends.

Only bathe once every 2-3 weeks, bathing more often will dry out their skin, they'll look crusty and be itchy.

Don't make a big deal or a lot of excitement out of the bath. Make it ';just another routine'; This prevents your wet dog from jumping out of the tub half sudsy and trapsing through your house with you screaming after it.

    Use a doggy oatmeal conditioner.

Trim their nails at the same time as giving them a bath. This makes nail trimming ';just another routine'; also.
Wash it in warm water, more leaning to the cold-warm. If your dog is too cold, the worst that can happen is it can catch a cold (which is bad), but if the water is too hot, it can permanently damage your dog's skin. To test the water temperature, put your elbow in the water and if it feels quite right, you can put your dog in the water. If your dog starts shivering you can try adding a BIT of warm water gradually.
Warm. And try oatmeal based shampoo. Very good for puppy, and sensitive skin types of skin. Also, do not bathe a dog more than once a month. If you do their skin will dry out and become irritated and itchy. Make sure you rinse the shampoo out very well, and dry him off thoroughly.
Wam %26amp; not a lot of it. Use proper puppy shampoo not human stuff.

Always make sure h is try before you go outside uring the cold winter months. A bath once a month max will be ok.
Wet. Wet water usually works best.

Oh, you meant temperature! Oh, OK. In that case, warm is best, like you would bathe an infant in.

I hope I made you smile today.
Wash your Puppy with warm water.
Warm, test it with your elbow just like you were getting it ready for a baby.
Lukewarm, nothing warmer than you'd wash an infant in.
    Warm.
always warm. doesn't matter what age.
what temp would you bathe a child?

What temperature of water should I wash my face with?

I have oily, teenage skin. Also, what temp of water should I rinse my face off with if I tone my skin next? What temperature of water should I wash my face with?
wash with warm to open the pores then rince with cold to close them trust me it works and you will have fewer black heads and pimples. What temperature of water should I wash my face with?
I would wash it with warm but not real hot as that will open your pours and the toneing won;t work as good.
    140 choose f or c

    I would go c
Well, I wash my face with luke warm water. Not hot, not cold. I read online that cold water can shock your skin and of course hot water is not good for your skin. I'm sure your skin will let you know if the water is too hot or too cold.
Warm water. You don't want it too cold because your pores will close up. Warm water helps open your pores so you can really deep clean. You also don't want it too hot because hot water can really irritate your skin, not to mention drying it out.
    whatever's comfortable for you.

What kind of water should I wash something like cotton / knit clothing in to shrink it?

I have some capri pants that I want to shrink a bit. What kind of water should I wash them in? Hot????What kind of water should I wash something like cotton / knit clothing in to shrink it?
Hot water is best.....and dry on high heat.........If this does not work, find a friend with a sewing machine and get them to take a tiny seam right alo ng the seam...What kind of water should I wash something like cotton / knit clothing in to shrink it?
wash them in cold water, the shrinking process starts in the dryer.Let the item stay in the dryer longer than needed.
I disagree with the first answer - shrinking happens in HOT water. Then put in a hot dryer to dry them.

okay i think i broke it by mistake. my sister put the clothes on a 15 min cycle, and i thought that was too long for the type of clothes so i put it on then 9 min cycle. so i think the machine got confused and got stuck. so the washing machine is filled with water. i tried to put it on spin cycle or rinse, but its not working? do i have to call a repairman or can i do it myself? How to fix a washing machine that is filled with water, but wont wash?
You may need to purchase, rent or borrow a Wet Dry Shop Vac to remove the water before it mildews. Then unplug it, plug it in again and restart the washer. If it doesn't work the balancer or the barrings are shot and YES you will need to have a repair man look at it unless it is really old and worth less than $100 you may just want to purchase another washer

Good LuckHow to fix a washing machine that is filled with water, but wont wash?
Try starting it from the regular cycle and let it run it's course, it won't add anymore water than it needs but it may be stuck in a cycle. Turn it off, unplug it and then plug it back in before trying to run it again so it can reset itself.
Must be a newer style with electronic controls. Unplug it for 5 minutes and it may reset itself.

Well it does work on any cycle? It sounds like it is the timer or the main dial. Try to slowly turn the cycle dial while the dial is pushed in...see if it starts in any cycle if it does then it is the timer. Its pretty easy to replace but you do need basic tools.
see if it has a Drain/spin cycle. Mine does. Otherwise try to pull the machine out from the wall and see if the drain pipe is twisted etc. Otherwise you might have to bail the water out. You can't leave it in - it will sour
    Yup....You kiled the washer

    .. .. ..

So for a last resort use salt solution when needed

warm water with a bit of salt is the better alternative. it is slightly similar with the body fluids so it won't do anything harsh.
mouthwash it has more ingrediants to help treat problems like that.

Please settle a debate on the water temperature to wash clothes in!?

My fiancee and I are always squabbling on what temperature to wash the clothes in. He says that darks should ALWAYS be washed in cold water no matter what it is. I say that nice dark clothes, such as button down shirts, slacks, nice tops, etc should be in cold water. I think that 'blah blah' clothes such as tshirts, work-out clothes, socks, underwear, jeans can be washed in warm water. Any facts, thoughts, opinions on this would be welcomed! Please settle a debate on the water temperature to wash clothes in!?
So many bacteria are in the weave of all underwear, such as underwear/shorts, tea-shirts, socks, and panties. With these type of clothing should be in hot water and in bleach, do not need to run dryer in hot heat because all bacteria have been removed because of the bleach, and hot water.

Colors that are Cotton should be done in cold water, and dried in medium heat, because the colors will fade in hot water and in hot heat. Plus the Cotton will become brittle in high heat of a dyer.

Anything that has elastic like underwear and bras, and pants that have spandex should always drip dry or cool heat in the dryer. Please settle a debate on the water temperature to wash clothes in!?
I don't know about Servant4 and his comment on the bacteria. If the bacteria in our clothing was a serious health risk we would know about it.

The fact is that with modern detergents you can get almost anything clean in just cold water. That doesn't mean that when I have something extra dirty or stinky I wash it in warmer water.
I can tell you from personal experience that most laundry mat use warm water even if you push the hot water button.

but I do noticed if I go back to my mom house to use her machine and I can see steam coming out from the water and after the wash machine is finish it looks bright that dam well job it did.

Everything eles is set on cold water.

Unless it stain. I hand wash it in warm water.
I use cold water for all my laundry. I found warm/hot water was fading the colours of my clothes. Cold water works just as well as warm or hot. If you have any big messes I would soak the item in cold water with detergent first, then put it in the machine.

I've been doing this for the last 5 years and my clothes are very clean and the colours are as bright as they were when i bought them. My black clothing hasn't turned grey either.
I wash everything in cold water!! It saves money and the environment! I have a front loading washer and dryer and I use the proper detergent for High Energy units and find that this gets all of our clothes nice and clean, we both work out doors and if the clothes are exceptionally stinky I use hot or warm water, but other than that everything is washed in cold!
Studies have shown that warm/hot water does not get your laundry any cleaner than using cold water. However, warm and hot water is guaranteed to set stains and leach colors from the fabrics at about 80% faster than cold water will which will cause you to spend money buying new clothing or having to constantly re-dye your old ones.
I wash everything but delicates in warm water and though I notice a little fading in my colors, my clothes don't last long enough to matter (I work in a auto repair shop). I've noticed that washing in cold water doesn't get out the smells and dirt like washing in warm water does.
i would follow manufacturer's instructions. if it says warm, i wash it warm. if it says cold, i wash it cold. if it doesn't say, then maybe it don't matter.
Bedlinen, towels and kitchen cloths should be at 60掳C to kill germs and dustmites. Coloureds 40掳C and darks at 30掳C. We very rarely wash in cold water in the UK.
    warm water is best

What's the best way to wash a Nalgene water bottle that has a 1'; opening?

I use a baby bottle brush on items with that small of neck openings. If there is some sort of build up inside that refuses to come off I use an old trick I learned from collecting old coke bottles, just break a Polident ,denture cleaner,(or equal generic) tablet up so parts will fit through opening, might take two or three tablets to match water level of container, just follow directions on box.

This combined with baby brush has cleaned many a jar and bottle for me, hope it does same for you. What's the best way to wash a Nalgene water bottle that has a 1'; opening?
soap and water and use a baby bottle brush and rinse well...........What's the best way to wash a Nalgene water bottle that has a 1'; opening?
Wash? You're supposed to wash them?
put about one table spoon oxi clean in the bottle fill with very hot water let sit overnight rinse well next day. will look like brand new
i just use really hot water and soap and shake it around violently! i only ever put water in it though, not juice, or beer, or anything else exciting.

had a friend put beer in one and it stank for a while, so she put peppermint schnapps in to get rid of the beer stank... it worked!

I've soaked it in vinegar and hot water, too, if it has that ';sat in the back of the car in the sunshine for a week'; flavour!

a long, bottle brush would work best if you have mold/crud in it that won't quit!

    good luck! :)

What is the best water temperature to wash damaged hair?

I was wondering if different water temperatures help to not cause damage to hair. i have pretty damaged or ';britle'; hair, and I'm using that new Dove shampoo(the new blue bottle) that I really love. I don't really mind cold showers as long as they aren't freezing. What is a good water temperature, if any? What is the best water temperature to wash damaged hair?
I read somewhere that its ok if you take quick hot showers, but you should wet your hair everyday. Also a common tip is at the end of you shower you do one quick blast of cold water to seal the ends of your hair and make it nice and shiny. What is the best water temperature to wash damaged hair?
Cold water is better for your hair but most people can't stand it. But it is true. Also have you tried treatments such as 3 minute miracle or a hot oil treatment?
It's okay to wash your hair in warm water, but rinse it in cool water to close the pores in your scalp.
one that is on the cold side.

Not freezing because the damages it too.

    Extreme temperatures aren't good.

So one thats really hot will do some damage also.

This is the same when using a blow dryer
STAY AWAY FROM REALLY HOT WATER USE WARM WATER TO RINSE OUT SHAMPOO BUT COOL WATER TO RINSE OUT CONDITIONER
You can take warm showers but you need to condition the hair. Their are lots

of conditioner's on market. Depending on why hair is damaged. If damaged

from chemicals you probably need to consult with a professional.
U should wash it in warm water 2 open the hair shaft (not pores %26amp; not a myth) %26amp; get thoroughly clean. U should rinse it in cool water to close the hair shaft (not pores %26amp; not a myth). The cool water will cause the top (cuticle) layer 2 ';seal'; (not a myth)leaving u w/ smooth, healthier %26amp; better protected hair. Though water temp won't solve ur prob. If u want healthy hair u need 2 go 2 a salon %26amp; buy pro hair care products.
The temperature doesn't matter. Extreme heat like irons, curling or straightening can dry hair out because it removes all moisture. Hair cuticles are open and closed by Ph. Hair is naturally acidic (4.5-5.5) And you want products in this ph range. Salon products will be. Most drugstore shampoos and conditioners are alkaline and not as effective. Look for products that are ph balanced. Cold water closing hair cutlicles is a myth. Honest.
    you should use cold water
you want to wash with luke warm or warm then towel dry before you apply the conditioner. When you rinse the conditioner rise with cold or luke cold water the cold water closes the cuticle of the hair and it traps the moister of the conditioner in the hair shaft.
Lukewarm should be fine. Not too hot and not too cold.

  • What temperature of water should I wash white pants in that have mud on them?

I dont want the stain to set, and i cant remember if its hot, cold, warm? What temperature of water should I wash white pants in that have mud on them?
Rinse in hot water, and if the mud has created a stain, then rub detergent into the stain, let it sit for 30 minutes, and wash in your hot water cycle. What temperature of water should I wash white pants in that have mud on them?
You never wash stained anything in hot water as it is guaranteed to set the stain for good. My best luck has been with pre-treating stains with ALL with stain lifter, (both sides of the fabric with a toothbrush) allowing to sit overnight and then washing on the heavy duty cycle in cold water. This way, if it does not all come out, you can re-treat the area and do it again.
Soak them in cold, and then wash in the recommended temp.

Cleansing Water-Who gets up in the morning at dawn at takes their water hose & wash down their house?

I just got done washing down my dad's house, and I smelled the smell you smell after it rains, and now that I am inside of it,I feel all holy and I feel God's presence everywhere.

I feel that I have cleansed the house of all sins that people have done in it.Cleansing Water-Who gets up in the morning at dawn at takes their water hose %26amp; wash down their house?
The bible says that you should worry about removing the splinter from your own eye before worrying of anothers. You are SMELLING rain and it was your housed that got cleansed, not you. To be truly touched by the cleansing water you have to react to the call of God and believe that Jesus died , rose from the dead and cleanses you of all sin. You will find that while Jesus allows you to have ';living and eternal waters'; that it is not water that will wash away your sins, it is the blood of Jesus Christ. You may wash and wash your house everyday but at the end of the day the car will always bring in more dirt and when you walk in side you will bring more dirt. The only way to do this is to make your house wood, protected wood. Only Jesus , who died on a cross stained with blood can cleanse you. It can cleanse you of generational curses , all sins you ever will and have commited.Cleansing Water-Who gets up in the morning at dawn at takes their water hose %26amp; wash down their house?
Actually, God has handled it for me the past week or so. Of course, God caused some nasty flooding along with it that left people without homes or power and destroyed all our crops so we will all be severely suffering from poverty again this summer, but hey, my house is clean!
Why do you need to cleanse your fathers' house- what horrible sins were committed there???

    Should the authorities be notified???

We have water restrictions here- any advice?
Not necessary. God will cleanse you of your sins from the inside when you accept the blood sacrifice willing provided by Jesus Christ.
you should pick up the phone book and make an appointment with the next available counselor.
You just need ShamWOW and then you'll be in heaven.
    what your smelling is crap

    you used the wrong hose

What temperature water should I wash my eyes with?

I usually wash my eyes in the same temp water I use to close my pores after cleansing, which is very cold. What's the best temperature water to wash my eyes with? What temperature water should I wash my eyes with?
cool to luke warm..not cold or hotWhat temperature water should I wash my eyes with?
It's mostly a personal preference thing, but I'd suggest body temperature or slightly warmer or cooler. Don't make it really hot or cold, as that can hurt your eyes and the skin around them.

Should I wash my jeans in Cold/Cold water in the washing machine?

And what water temperature should I wash my brights and darks and whites, explain why please!

Thank you!Should I wash my jeans in Cold/Cold water in the washing machine?
Buy Tide cold water laundry detergent. It works great and you can wash everything in cold water.Should I wash my jeans in Cold/Cold water in the washing machine?
Cold is better for just about everything because the fabric and colors stay nicer for a longer time. The only things I wash in hot water are heavily soiled things like my dogs blankets. Those go in hot water with bleach!
WASH EVERYTHING BUT WHITES IN COLD WATER. IT SAFES THE COLOR TO THEM LONGER. WARMER TEMPS. TEND TO FADE CLOTHES EVERY WASH CYCLE YOU PUT THEM THROUGH. BESIDES THAT YOU SAVE $$ TOWARDS UTILITY BILL THAT WAY TOO. WASH WHITES IN HOT AND USE A BLEACH TO ADD TO LOAD TO KEEP FROM YELLOWING FROM HIGH IRON CONTENT.
cold water detergent such as tide cold water works on temps 40 degrees and above whereas most other leading brands only work at 60 degrees and above. during the winter months you may want to just wash your jeans on the warm cycle because the water comming into your washer may be too cold and will not work with the soap...therefore not cleaning your clothes as well.
all dark cloths cold water it helps bring the dirt out whites hot water because its harder to get whites cleaner and hot water helps draw the stains out , light warm there in between

Well, to give you an idea of relative sizes, those water coolers in an office with the big blue jugs of water on them contain about 5 gallons full. So a top load washer wouldn't even use all that. Maybe 4 gallons. My front load uses about 3.3 gallons of water.

But that's for just the wash. There is also the rinse to get out all the soap, so that's another 3.3 gallons, for under 7 gallons total per wash.

I'm not sure about commercial washers, if they use only 1 rinse cycle or 2. But let's say they use 2, so there's a total of 10 gallons of water per wash.

Putting it in perspective again, consider that your toilet uses 1.6 gallons of water per flush, so if you flush it 6 times a day, there's 10 gallons again.
i would say my washing machine about 20 gallons per load.

the mix and application(paving) were of the highest order(up to spec)Can a hot water pressure wash (12 to 18 inches away), hurt a 1 month old asphalt surface?
Shouldn't, all though you can etch brick with a power-washer, so it helps to determine what you need it for...To just clean it up, you don't need anything over 2000 psi, and there are also tips you place at the end of the wand to give you the desired water stream ..00..0..1..2, I suggest you try an out of the way test patch first, even a 2500 psi machine with a 0, or #1 tip should not mark the asphalt at 18 inches...more info if you can...

I have mistakenly put a pint of windscreen wash in the water coolant tank. What probs would this cause?

I want to get it to a garage to flush out and refill however I cant get it to the garage for a week will it be ok to run for a week?I have mistakenly put a pint of windscreen wash in the water coolant tank. What probs would this cause?
None, 95-97 % of the wash is water the majority of the rest is detergent and this will do no harm to the cooling system.

Not enuff to clean it, but for sure not enuff to hurt anything!

';BRILLIANT';!!!!I have mistakenly put a pint of windscreen wash in the water coolant tank. What probs would this cause?
A frothy water coolant overflow. It may just clean out the system. Keep topping it up though. I think that if you have not run the car I would try and syphon it out. Plastic tube in the coolant tank. Take it below the level of the tank a quick suck (don't swallow any) and it will drain. Then start again. If youput diesel in the petrol tank or vice versa you would have something to worry about and need about 拢200 to spend
I wouldn't flush good antifreeze out of the radiator unless it was time to do it, anyway.

The windshield washer fluid is not corrosive, and mostly water, anyway. There's a little alcohol in it, and the worst that happens is that boils off in time.
If you are that concerned and you have not run the car yet just syphon the coolant/washer fluid mix out of the tank and refill will motor coolant.

Needless excercise though. That much W/S washer fluid will not affect the performance of your coolant in any way.
Just remove the coolant tank and clean it out. Only takes a few screws to remove it. The window cleaner will evaporate fast, so that's the only problem it would really cause BUT one should do the right fluids in the right HOLES. ;-)
Not a big problem. To be safe, I would drain the radiator and refill it with new coolant. Many people use water in their coolant tank in the summer. Do it yourself and save money.
It will be ok ,but you cant be checking the fluids like you should be ,for the coolant to be a pint down .

Keep a check on the coolant level to make sure that you have no leaks .
Just a pint shouldn't hurt. Most washer fluids are made with alcohol. Most antifreezes are made with ethol glycol. Shouldn't worry about it.
a pint won,t hurt nothing. about all it might do is foam a little but you can still drive it.
No problems other than a frothy residue perhaps when you remove the rad cap, don't worry about it
no problems as long as the freeze level is ok . washer fluid has a freeze level in it if u bought antifreeze washer fluid
Don't worry about it, no harm with come to the coolant system.

    Ja.
    Nothing at all homeboy!
Should be fine and i nearly did that the other night as it was dark!!!
    nothing to worry about+
no damage what so ever....just forget about it...honest.
i mate done the same thing done worry all will be fine

Does it work to splash face with hot water and wash it with cold water??

I am thinking about trying this. i have heard it works. has anyone had any experience with this?Does it work to splash face with hot water and wash it with cold water??
My mother is 63 years old and has the skin of a woman in her thirties. When she washes her face she wets a soft face towel with hot water and gently wipes with the towel slightly damp. She does this a couple of times then she wets the towel with cold water and pats her face with it. All I can say is even though she doesn't splash her face with hot water, she does get a good effect from it. She doesn't scrub her face because that is damaging to skin. She has been doing this over half of her life. The hot water opens pores and lets your face get a deep clean and the cold water closes your pores back up.Does it work to splash face with hot water and wash it with cold water??
yeah it works...the hot water is meant to open your pores and the cold water is meant to close them so they appear smaller
yes it works it helps me try it
